The link between Vilarnau and Antonio Miró goes back to 2005, when the prestigious interior designer created our spectacular cava. Antonio Miró managed to produce a wise combination of the avant garde exclusivity and artisan tradition.
Since then Vilarnau’s winemaker Damià Deàs has maintained a strong relationship with Antonio Miró and his team.
Antonio Miró was impressed by the way Vilarnau works: precision viticulture, the harvest, the meticulous production process and, especially, the sensations he enjoyed when he tasted our most exclusive cava, Albert de Vilarnau Gran Reserva.
The meeting between the designer and the winemaker inspired a link between art and nature. The delicacy the winemaker seeks to achieve in this Gran Reserva Cava was the source of inspiration for the sensuous feminine lips the artist was motivated to designed. This was the first image that came to Antonio Miró’s mind when he tasted this special cava for the first time and is the image that eventually came to be used on the label.
Antonio Miró captured the essence of these strangely precise, perfect cavas. Small-scale artisan production of a very limited number of batches means the wines display a subtle yet distinctive elegance, finesse and texture along with extraordinary personality. Albert de Vilarnau Chardonnay Pinot Noir and Albert de Vilarnau Barrel Fermented are two special cavas that reflect the winemaking philosophy of Damiá Deàs and Eva Plazas, founded on the pursuit of elegance and optimum integration of the French oak used to age the organically grown Chardonnay grapes. The result is, without doubt, a perfect symbiosis between art and nature. The essence of these signature cavas is a judicious combination of winemaking, a cutting edge approach and tradition. Both are Gran Reserva, artisan wines aged for more than 30 months (the minimum allowed by the CRC, the Cava Regulatory Council) and up to 50 months. Both are produced in limited amounts and are made from grapes picked by hand, at night.
